Summary

Design and construction upgrade of the existing station comprising a new station entry with new lift and stair structures, new accessible walkways, a new station platform building, canopies, new HV and LV supplies, services upgrades, replacement of the platform surface, tactiles and new signage.

Scope of Work

Arenco was responsible for all the design and construction works to the station which involved the demolition of the existing Hume Highway station entry concourse and building structures and providing a new open concourse link to a new lift and stair structure connecting with the lower platform level.

New pathways were provided from the existing car parks on either side of the station to provide accessible access to the station entry. A new platform station building was provided which included a new staff office and amenities, services rooms, cleaner’s and storage room, commuter amenities and a family accessible toilet.

The platform area was resurfaced with the provision of new tactile indicators where required. New platform canopy structures, services upgrades and signage were provided.

Significant Achievements

Successfully worked in areas with difficult or restricted access subject to live rail and commuter movements.

All works completed within the contract period, without interruption to rail staff, commuter or pedestrian movements and despite COVID-19 restrictions during construction. 

Innovative construction of the new station platform building using prefabricated modular sections that were installed during a possession weekend.
