Summary

Design and construction upgrade of the existing station comprising a new lift structure, a new accessible walkway from the existing car park, platform building extension and modifications, new HV and LV supplies, services upgrades, platform resurfacing and signage.

Scope of Work

Lapstone Railway Station is one of the stations upgraded through the Transport Access Program to provide a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure.

The project involved installation of a new lift linking the existing footbridge with the eastern platform level, a new accessible pathway to the footbridge and extension of the existing station building to provide new commuter facilities.

Arenco was responsible for all the design and construction works to the existing station including the provision of the new lift and reconfiguration of the platform station building to provide a family accessible toilet, a male and female unisex ambulant toilet and an upgraded waiting area.

A new accessible footpath was provided from the car park with rest area seating and lighting. Both platforms were resurfaced with new tactile indicators to the platform edges. New recessed seating areas were provided to the western platform. Services were upgraded including a new HV electrical service and isolation transformer connected to the station incoming supply.

Significant Achievements

Successfully worked in areas with difficult or restricted access subject to live rail and commuter movements and met major station construction milestones during weekend track possessions.

All works completed without interruption to rail staff, commuter or pedestrian movements.

Despite extensive additional works being incorporated into the project, construction was completed nearly two months ahead of the contract completion time.
