Summary

One of a number of RailCorp’s Easy Access Station Upgrade programs undertaken across the metropolitan network to provide independent access to rail services for those with disabilities, parents with young children and those traveling with heavy baggage.

Belmore Railway station is on the CityRail Bankstown line, generally served by four trains per hour in each direction. It is situated in a cutting, has a slender island platform, and is crossed by the Burwood Road Bridge.

Scope of Work

The works comprised the design and construction of new easy access facilities including improved station access with concourse structural improvements, a new easy access lift, new glazed canopy over stairs leading down to island platform, platform regrading and surfacing with tactile indicators provided.

The existing toilets were modified for family access, improved lighting, additional CCTV coverage for added security and modifications and improvements for easy access to the existing car park. External fencing and landscaping completed the works.

Significant Achievements

Extensive works carried out in limited weekend track possessions.

Successfully maintained access to the station for staff and commuters whilst easy access works were carried out, particularly as the new lift was located in the main pathway access to the station platform and new stairs were required.
