Summary

Arenco was awarded the major upgrade station works as part of Downer EDI’s Managing Contractor program over 5 stations. Works involved demolition works, building and civil works, drainage, hydraulic services and mechanical services works as part of the station easy access upgrade.

Scope of Work

Harris Park Railway Station is one of the stations upgraded through the Transport Access Program to provide a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure.

The project involved demolition works, new ramps and footpaths to the station entrances, a new lift structure, canopies and perforated screens to the footbridge, stair canopy and screens, new concourse station building and amenities, platform resurfacing with tactile indicators, external roadworks, footpath paving, landscaping and shelters. Service works included stormwater drainage, hydraulics and mechanical services. In-ground trenching and conduits were provided for the electrical services contractor, engaged separately by Downer.

The works included operating in close proximity to pedestrian traffic and live rail conditions.

Significant Achievements

All works completed without disruption of rail, commuter or pedestrian movements.

Works carried out with limited access to the station platform, being located in a cutting.

Staging for the ticket office relocation on the concourse was adapted to compliment demolition, service relocations, building works and amenities for station staff.

Assisted Downer in meeting their obligations to Transport for NSW.
