Located in Macquarie Fields, the Bob Prenter Reserve Upgrade has transformed the site into a high-quality regional sports facility that supports a diverse and growing community. Arenco was engaged by Campbelltown City Council to deliver the design and construction of the upgraded amenities, creating a modern, inclusive, and durable sporting precinct.
The project responds to the area’s strong sporting culture and increasing demand for accessible, multi-use facilities.
The project involved the comprehensive upgrade and expansion of the existing facilities at Bob Prenter Reserve, including the refurbishment of the grandstand and the construction of a new building beneath it. This new space incorporates modern public amenities, a gym, and dedicated umpire facilities. Beside the grandstand a new clubhouse was constructed, featuring a first-floor clubroom with lift access, a covered outdoor spectator viewing deck, a venue management office, a timekeeper/scorer’s box, kitchen and bar facilities and storerooms. Player facilities were also significantly enhanced, with new changerooms providing direct access to the field, alongside a canteen and substantial storage areas for equipment located on the ground floor.
The design also includes provisions for future expansion, with a planned grandstand extension and a bridge link between buildings to enable seamless upgrades. Complementing the built works, a central entry forecourt was created to serve as a welcoming community space, incorporating seating, shade trees, landscaped planting, and covered BBQ facilities, while also guiding visitors from the street and car park towards the field and key amenities.
The project aligns with the AFL Preferred Facility Guidelines 2024 for regional-level venues, enhancing the playing, umpiring, and spectator experience while promoting participation across all genders.
The Bob Prenter Reserve Upgrade prioritises gender equity and accessibility, ensuring the facility is inclusive for all users. With separated amenities and changerooms, the fields are set to become a vibrant hub for community sport, establishing a benchmark for regional AFL sports infrastructure.
